Poggio al Bosco

About Us

Poggio al Bosco is a family-run organic farm born in 1960, when the great-grandfather Giovanni (the gentleman with the vest in the picture below) decided to change his family life.

We are located in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, in the heart of Chianti, exactly halfway between Florence and Siena.
The name of our winery has a very close link with the area we live. Poggio in Tuscan language means hill and bosco is forest: our vineyards lie in fact on a hill surrounded by green woods.

The winemaking tradition has been handed down from generation to generation. After centuries of sharecropping’s work, in 1960, the grandfather Giovanni with his sons Primo and Mario bought this winery and thus they became direct growers of their land. In those years the planting of the first vineyards began by taking care of every single plant and giving rise with the passion of every single gesture to a quality product.

Today, at Poggio al Bosco, we continue with the same dedication of the past following in the footsteps of our grandparents. Last but not least, the nature of the land and the excellent exposure are the characteristics that allow us to keep the ancient wine tradition unchanged.

The excellence of our region
