Tenuta Riseccoli

About Us

The RISECCOLI estate and our wines tell a story beginning in the early 20th century when renowned Florentine artist Prof. Romano Romanelli (1882-1969) acquired the land, villas, vines and olive groves in the hills above Greve in Chianti.

Coming from a line of artists and mainly known as a member of the prestigious Florence Academy of Art, Professor Romanelli had a comparable interest in agriculture and viticulture.

Over the years the circle of RISECCOLI wine lovers grew as the Romanelli family embarked on several viticultural studies and experiments, always aiming to bring to life wines representative of the terroir and the Tuscan winemaking tradition.

The winery is still in the family and the next generations continue with the same passion as Professor Romanelli, and the belief that the finest examples of Chianti Classico wines are crafted and produced in smaller parcels.

The RISECCOLI estate is the expression of the quintessential beauty of Tuscany: rolling hills planted with vines and olive trees, Mediterranean forests and farmhouses scattered against an idyllic backdrop – similar to the Renaissance frescoes in the elegant palazzi of Florence and Siena.

The holiday villas at RISECCOLI consist of three skillfully restored 16th-century farmhouses. They were converted into comfortable accommodations at the turn of the millennium for the sheer enjoyment of world travelers seeking an exclusive holiday and, above all, a true Tuscan experience.

The winery, cellar and tasting room are all located on the grounds of the ancient Romanelli family villa, which is surrounded by rows of tall cypress trees.

The vineyards are planted with approximately 10 hectares of the indigenous Sangiovese varietal and small parcels of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. All are organically grown, the estate, wines and the olive oil being all entirely organically certified.

A team of dedicated and skilled wine and wine tourism professionals work together at RISECCOLI. They are all natives of the Chianti Classico area who value il territorio (territory/terroir) and l’accoglienza (hospitality).
