Sardinian Vermentino is one of the world’s favourite Italian white wines. Michele’s Vermentino — Pastura — has all the wonderful fruity attributes (peach, Granny Smith apple), crisp and dry, with the typical minerality and wonderful sapidità (saltiness) of Sardinian wines.
Pastura is a medium bodied wine that pairs perfectly with fish or lighter meats, best enjoyed cold on a summer day. In Sardinia our tradition is to drink full bodied reds with suckling pig and farm meats such as sheep or goat — but thanks to the wonderful acidity and volcanic minerality of Pastura, I have enjoyed it many times with these meats, and it rises to the challenge beautifully.
With minimal added sulphites, Pastura is a wine you can drink freely without any of the unwanted side effects of sulphite-rich white wines.
This wine is made in the tradition of Sardinian wines, hand picked and aged in stainless steel.
